Windermere

Welcome to Windermere

A beautiful suburb with incredible golf courses and a charming downtown square

The greater Windermere area encompasses more than 100 charming communities, one of them being the town of Windermere, a luxurious community of approximately 3,500 people, only 12 miles west of Orlando. With Winter Garden and Ocoee to the north, Clermont to the west, Dr. Phillips to the south, and Orlando to the east, Windermere is ideally located to provide residents with easy access to all of Central Florida’s best attractions. Indeed, Universal Studios and Walt Disney World are both less than 20 minutes away.

Residents love Windermere’s picturesque downtown area, including Town Square Park, which is home to Windermere’s Town Hall, the Franklin W. Chase Memorial Library, and a handful of community events. Whether locals visit the Windermere Farmers Market or enjoy festivals like Light Up Windermere, Town Square Park is one place they can’t miss.

What to Love

Local Lifestyle

Windermere is regarded as one of the best places to live in Central Florida. A quaint and charming town, Windermere has a tight-knit community feel without feeling removed from top restaurants, shops, or attractions. Whether locals are looking to spend their free time outdoors or at one of Orlando’s top theme parks, Windermere provides all of that and more.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

Windermere has a strong mix of restaurants to enjoy. Locals know that starting their day off right means stopping by the Dixie Cream Cafe for made-from-scratch Southern breakfasts. Or, there’s the chic and modern Paloma Coffee.

Some of the best barbecue in town can be found at Yellow Dog Eats, a bright eatery with a laid-back atmosphere and a great patio. For dessert, Allen’s Creamery and Coffee House can’t be beaten. Located right on Main Street, Allen’s features dozens of flavors and toppings guests can mix as they please. Finally, Tim’s Wine Market is a Windermere staple, where locals are known to stop on a Friday night to peruse the market’s more than 700 labels.

In addition to cute cafes and cozy Southern eateries, Windermere is also less than 20 minutes from the fantastic Garden Theatre in the neighboring Winter Garden. For shopping, Windermere has The Grove and the Shoppes at Windermere. Residents are also only 20 minutes from the Mall at Millenia, where retailers like Coach, Gucci, and Jimmy Choo await.

Things to Do

One of the best things to do around Windermere is to visit the Orange County Butler Chain of Lakes. These 13 interconnected lakes stretch for more than 5,000 acres, meaning Windermere residents can kayak, paddleboard, and fish to their hearts’ content.

Windermere is also close to several golf courses, including the Isleworth Country Club and the Golden Bear Club. Isleworth is considered one of Central Florida’s most incredible private golf communities and is right beside the Butler Chain of Lakes, while the Golden Bear Club was designed by Jack Nicklaus and is part of the prestigious Keene’s Point community.

For more outdoor adventure, Windermere is minutes from the Tibet-Butler Nature Preserve, open for hiking, jogging, and boating. Finally, one of Windermere’s best community events is its monthly Food Truck Nights. Held on the fourth Friday of every month, Food Truck Nights feature between 15 and 20 vendors along with movies, kids’ games, and live music.
